It’s finally that time in your life or should I say… THE time!
The time to find your perfect wedding dress.
Perhaps this is a moment in time you’ve been dreaming about for as long as you could remember, or maybe you’ve just reached that point where you may as well say I do and so you need to find a dress to wear!
However you’re feeling about wedding dress shopping you still have one goal as the bride…
And that’s to say YES to a dress.
So you will want to take these top tips into consideration when picking the perfect wedding gown!
1. Get the Wedding Dress YOU and YOU only want.
I didn’t know what I wanted. I kept trying to please everyone else and I kept looking for a wedding dress that other people would like. This made me not love anything I was trying on. I tried on a lot of beautiful wedding dresses but for other brides.
It wasn’t until I decided to look for me and me only, that I found my dream dress. When you find your dream dress, you couldn’t give a monkey’s bottom to what anyone else thinks. After all it’s not their day. It’s your day! You are the bride!
2. Be open to trying all the different styles of wedding dresses.
Even if you only want a mermaid, try the A-Line gown on. If anything this will solidify your decision in knowing what wedding dress is right for you.
3. Remember they are airbrushed models shot by professional photographers in the pictures…
When scrolling through Instagram or Pinterest for wedding dress ideas, nine times out of ten you will see a model who’s had some help to sell you that dress. Now if you are not a ninety pound-six foot model, that dress is going to look a bit different on you… it’s just life. So try not to be dead set on a particular dress until you have tried it on.
4. Take Photos of the dresses you try on.
You are going to cherish your wedding photos for life so this is my number one tip for when you are shopping for your wedding dress. I remember loving a wedding gown in person but when I saw it in the picture I was so underwhelmed and no longer loved that dress. It wasn’t the wow factor I was going for. It just didn’t flatter me as much as I thought. By taking pics you’ll be able to see what dresses suit you and this takes me onto my next point…
5. Step Off The Platform!
A platform can help you see all the small intricate details on a wedding gown but it can also add to the illusion of how flattering the dress is on you. Unless you plan on wearing ten-inch heels, step down off the platform… take it from this shortie.
6. Don’t Be Sold On ‘The Feeling’.
Sometimes you need to think on big decisions and choosing your wedding dress is a big decision. You don’t need to have that feeling of chills or burst into tears like you see on tv shows. You may have that experience and you may not… My point is, it’s ok to take your time with making a decision on what is the perfect wedding gown for you on your big day.
7. Remember it’s just a dress…
I know… that is painful to hear and now you hate me. I hated hearing this too… But the truth of the matter is, it IS the person that you are marrying that is what’s truly important. And you’re a bride! You’ll be beautiful in whatever you decide to wear on your big day! Ursula the sea witch would look beautiful on her wedding day without a spell. It’s true- ALL BRIDES ARE BEAUTIFUL!
So happy shopping my brides to be!
