Hair Serum and Hair Oil are two hair products you should be using to maintain your tresses. But what’s the difference? Aren’t they both the same? Not exactly.
Hair Serum
Hair Serum has a less greasy feel to it and tends to be slightly thicker. This is because most products out there tend to be silicone based. So melted fake breast implants? I guess…
You should use hair serum to smooth down the hair or to lock in a curl. It basically works by sealing the hair cuticles. So it’s perfect for those flyaways or to control ‘frizz’.
So think of Hair Serum as more of a styling product. A hair product that is for shine-boosting, sleek and beautiful hair.
Kerastase Elixir Ultime L’Huile Original Beautifying Hair Oil
(Don’t let the word ‘oil’ fool you in the name this is definitely more of a serum.)

Hair Oil
Hair Oil on the other hand, actually conditions your hair. It will nourish the strands and actually protect your hair from the outdoor elements. But do remember to use it sparingly as a lot goes a long way!
So think of Hair Oil as more of a conditioning product. Hair oil will be more restorative and will revitalize damaged hair.
Bios Apothecary Hair Serum – Amaranth
(Ironically this has ‘serum’ in its title but is more of an oil, so use this product sparingly.)

Both Hair Serum and Hair Oil are essential for glossy and silky looking hair.
There are many of these products to choose from but the links I’ve included are for my two faves which I swear by! Whatever you do decide to choose, be sure to check the ingredients listed to look to see if the product is actually an oil or a serum.
The products above I believe help me maintain healthy looking hair.
Pro tip- don’t apply too much product to the crown of the head area, this may make your hair look a little greasy (and the wet look is so met gala 2019…).
Let me know if these hair products help improve your hairs appearance and its condition in the comments section. And make sure you have subscribed to THE BIL’s newsletter as I’ll soon be sharing my tips to prevent hair breakage.
